The Panama Institute for Ecological and Biological Research is an organization dedicated to providing local infrastructure for the scientific study of a diverse and largely pristine rainforest area, available to a national and international research community. It provides scientists* with an ecological, biological, and cultural environment to pursue their profession amidst a pristine environment of land, water, and indigenous people. We are a research institute dedicated to the conservation of the forests in this tropical rainforest area on the Caribbean coast of Veraguas in Panama.

Our center is concerned with preserving the pristine nature and ecology of the rainforest. Nevertheless, the researchers are offered an infrastructure needed for a purposeful ecological and biological research activity, a good supply, a functioning social environment, and a high cultural affinity.
The protection of the environment is very important to us; it is our most valuable asset. At our company, environmental protection is lived and actively developed.
We offer an authentic and pristine research environment in the field of rainforest ecology and biology with the corresponding know-how of the local population. In addition, we offer a high recreational value on land and in and on the water, such as fishing, snorkeling, and boat trips.

For this reason, the interaction of five important areas, namely water, geology, fauna, flora and culture, with the involvement of the indigenous population for the development of sustainable environmental awareness is of utmost importance to us.

We are happy to welcome individual researchers as well as groups of (prospective) researchers, e.g., course visitors, bachelor, master, and Ph.D. students, and also for whole courses. Of course, our supervisors also support groups in their on-site work and field research.
